The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) is investing 700,000,000 satoshis (7 BTC) or $706,000 in 20 innovative projects that are changing the human rights landscape around the world.
The funds will be channeled to empower communities in Latin America, Asia, and Africa, with an emphasis on decentralizing Bitcoin mining, improving privacy fund solutions, and promoting independent media engagement in authoritarian countries.
Key projects include Stratum V2, a software for decentralizing Bitcoin mining, and Tando, a mobile Bitcoin payment app for Kenya.
Other initiatives include supporting female Bitcoin developers like Kenyan Naiyoma in improving the Bitcoin Core codebase and enhancing Bitcoin Core with developers like Daniela Brozzoni.
The effort is being done to highlight Bitcoin’s growing role in defending human rights to freedom and privacy around the world.
